This Valentine's Day, you're invited to enjoy "Love in the Hills". On Friday February 14th, The Town of Fountain Hills and Sami Fine Jewelry are hosting an event like no other. This fabulous one of a kind occasion offers couples a chance to renew their wedding vows. This year, there will also be live entertainment, along with delicious local food trucks.
Stephenie Bjorkman (owner of Sami Fine Jewelry) made this event possible a few years ago. It was a serious success! Over 884 couples participated - and this year, we’re expecting even more! Bjorkman is currently working day and night to assemble her troops of local businesses to help create this amazing event again. In years past, Bjorkman has attempted to take a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for most vows renewed at one time. Currently Love in the Hills is considered one of the largest wedding vow renewal ceremonies in the world, but does not hold the world record. The current record is held by Western Michigan University, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This event took place on October 8, 2016 and had over 1201 couples participate. Bjorkman thinks Arizona can TOTALLY beat this record!
This year, the focus of the event is to create a fun, unique occasion for people who just want to enjoy Valentine's Day in the park and or renew their wedding vows. "Beating the Guinness Book of World Records would just be icing on the cake! But celebrating love is the real win," says Bjorkman.
The festivities begin at 2pm at the amphitheater at Fountain Park. Come hungry, because there will be food trucks waiting to serve you! Additionally from 2pm-4pm there will be music and the “Newlywed Game.” After the live music, from 4pm-4:30pm event goers can watch or participate in "The Newlywed Game".
If you only want to renew your vows, the festivities will begin around 4:30pm. The renewal ceremony is completely FREE to participate in. No official paperwork is needed, but early registration is preferred. You can register anytime after January 15th at Sami Fine Jewelry in Fountain Hills. Register early, because the first 200 couples to register in person at Sami Fine Jewelry's storefront will receive a FREE gift bag. Sami's encourages you to register early, because people who pre-register will automatically be entered to win even more prizes. If you choose to register the day of the event, you can also register at Sami Fine Jewelry from noon until 4pm or at the Fountain Park before the event. Promptly at 4:30pm, the renewal ceremony will begin.
The ceremony takes place in the amphitheater at Fountain Park (17070 E. El Lago Blvd, Fountain Hills, AZ, 85268). Larry James, minister, relationship coach, and the author of the book, "How to Really Love the One You're With" (which has been featured on The View) has stepped up to minister the event. He is a non denominational minister, so the ceremony is suited for everyone! "I can't wait to celebrate love in Fountain Hills," says James.
